How to pay your Self Assessment Tax
If you changed your job in the previous year and the tax has been calculated and deducted by your second employer without considering the income from your previous employer, or you have earned income from other sources like saving bank interest exceeding Rs. 10000, interest on fixed deposit, capital gain etc. then you may have to pay Self Assessment Tax before filing your ITR for Assessment 2015-16. I will guide you step by step process to pay your tax.
Visit the following link https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp. you can also find the tax payment option on your bank’s website if the bank is offering you online tax payment services. Clicking on the link will open the following page-
Select Challan No. /ITN 280 (payment of Income Tax & Corporation Tax), the third option from the bottom.
It will take you through the following page-
Select (0021) income Tax other than companies. Type your PAN. Select Assessment year 2015-16 if you are paying the balance tax on income earned during the previous year 2014- 15. Type your complete address in the appropriate columns. Select (300) Self Assessment Tax under the option Type of Payment. Select the bank where you want to pay your tax from. Your internet banking must be active and you must have internet banking id and password. After typing the captcha code click on the ‘proceed’ button. It will lead to the confirm data page.
Make sure that correct name appears for the given PAN. Click on the ‘Submit to the bank’ button. It will take you to the internet banking page of your bank.
Every bank may follow a different default option. For instance, in case of ICICI Bank default option is corporate login. If you don’t have a current account, you can click on the ‘retail login’ button.
You can pay your tax after you login to the site with your credentials.
